Mining & Geotechnical Engineering

Project Leadership & Technical Expertise

Chelsea, our lead engineer, has extensive experience in managing multi-million dollar projects, including overseeing large-scale geotechnical work at Suncor Energy Services and Klohn Crippen Berger.

Her leadership includes:

  • Project leadership and coordination for Dam Safety Reviews

  • Applied research and innovation initiatives

  • Performance Engineering at Suncor Energy Services Fort Hills.

  • Field Supervision for geotechnical services on the Transmountain Pipeline.

  • Project coordination for over $2 million in projects, mentoring a team of 10 junior engineers.

  • Leading the transition from paper-based logging systems to modern, tablet-based Open Ground cloud systems for more efficient data management.

INDIGENOUS INTEGRATION SERVICES

Chelsea, our lead engineer, is leading Canada and the International Mining Community in Integrating Indigenous knowledge in Engineering and is now offering consultation in this area. Chelsea who is an Mi’kmaq blooded Earth Scientist sees out of both the western and indigenous eye.

  • Indigenous Knowledge Integration Consulting: Advising on how to incorporate Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) into engineering and other sectors of STEM.

  • Two-Eyed Seeing Workshops: Training engineers, project managers and other staff on collaborative frameworks.

  • Community Engagement Strategy: Designing respectful, effective engagement plans with Indigenous communities.

  • Knowledge Co-Production Facilitation: Supporting collaborative research and monitoring programs.

NON TECHNICAL:

INCLUSION AND BELONGING(DEI) CONSULTATION

President, Chelsea Burdon, P.Eng is an advocate for Vulnerable Communities and Populations and has been open about her struggles in industry due to her background, opportunities and challenges presented by generational trauma. These services include consultation with the populations she represent and brings inclusion and belonging perspective from those outside the organizations. Many gates remained closed for vulnerable populations such as low income, indigenous communities and people living with invisible disabilities, keeping companies from fully understanding the true meaning of DEI and its natural progression.
